Midrash Boys Choir One of the highlights of the evening was the impressive performance of the Midrash Boys’ Choir. Boys of different ages (5-15)sang authentic melodies of original Babylonian Shbahoth emphasizing the original pronunciation of our heritage.  Under the direction of Hakham Ya’aqob, the boys sang Y- ah Ribbon ’Alam, a Baqqashah that is sung every morning, Yighdal, the portion which is sung at weddings and concluded with Yehi Shalom Beheleinu- a Shbah for a birth of a baby boy.  The audience was so moved and excited, that the boys were requested to return for an encore with their popular Shbah “Alef-Bé-Geemal-Dahl-He-Waw” ( sung at Simhath Torah).
CateringThe guests enjoyed the exotic middle eastern food, prepared by Aodi Zilkha - featuring a vast variety of hors d’oeuvres at the cocktail hour. And if that were not enough, after the generous main course, the guests were invited to taste an endless assortment of eastern desserts, such as, baqlawa, masafan, ice cream, zangoola and much more.  The band, under the direction of Roni Shalom, played music that perfectly fit the happiness and elegance of the evening. Music
The Midrash celebrated its 10th anniversary at this dinner. It has dilligently served the Babylonian and Sephardi communities.  The organization, which started as no more than a vision in the eyes of its founders, has become a reality and lives its moto - “Where our Heritage Lives™”.  Whether through outreach programs, classes for all ages - men, women and children, lectures, a full complement of Synagogue services or the new mission which the Midrash took upon themselves, the Midrash high school for boys which opened up in Sept. ‘96, the Midrash is committed to building a new generation of leaders in the Babylonian and Sephardi world.
