From the Hakham’s desk:
With all the sad news that we are constantly subjected
to, isn’t it wonderful to hear that our future looks “bright”?
The Hakhamim tell us that the Torah, which is the basis
of Judaism, is “light”. Our job
is
to illuminate the paths of all our people.
To this end, the doors of the Midrash remain open to
all Jews, irrespective of their own personal level of observance.
Our only request is that they respect both our Babylonian
heritage and our religion. This is in contrast to those who reject both,
thereby choosing darkness and lack of understanding.
Your support of our ideals has recently been shown in
several ways. Firstly, our annual dinner this year, surpassed all previous
annual dinners, surprising even those who were involved in its organization
Secondly, with extreme gratitude to Providence, we were
blessed with the one thing that eluded us so badly -- a donation of a Sefer
Torah. And miraculously, it was followed a few weeks later, by the dedication
of a second one.
We need no more proof that Haqqadosh Barukh Hu and you,
our supporters, feel that Midrash BEN ISH HAI and the Midrash High School
are following the true path to ensure our future.
If you have not already done so, please visit us at the
Midrash and witness our future in the making.
With Torah blessings, Hakham Ya'aqob
Menashe
