eople often ask us, "Who is welcome at Midrash BEN ISH HAI?" They know we are a religious Sephardi organization and if they themselves do not fit into those two categories, they wonder if they would feel welcome. We've said it before but now is the time to reiterate it. The doors of the Midrash are open to, and indeed we welcome, all Jews irrespective of their origins or personal level of observance. Our only request is that they respect both our religion and our holy heritage. At all our activities, which include outreach, training of children, Jewish Singles activities, Seminars, Shi'urim/classes, Beth Midrash, two synagogue locations, lectures and more, even the most casual observer will notice Jews of all backgrounds, Sephardi & Ashkenazi, people from the seasoned Yeshibah world to the ones just starting out or "just curious". The Midrash and all its activities are under the leadership of Hakham Ya'aqob Menashe, hy"w, who adheres to the laws of Ben Ish Hai, after whom the organization is named. All who know him know that he is a warm caring individual, but is uncompromising when it comes to following our authentic traditions. This is probably the main reason for the tremendous success the Midrash has seen over the years.
